Purpose and Goals
The GREAT (Gaining Real Experience Through Accelerated Trades) program has the following goals:
- Students spend the first 2.5 years at Bishop and earn all compulsory credits
- In the last 1.5 years of high school students will be in a coop placement and registered in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) and earning hours towards an apprenticeship
- Some students will be able to earn a pay cheque from the apprenticeship placement
Program Description
Bishop’s Gaining Real Experience through Accelerated Trades (GREAT) program is intended for the student who wants to pursue a career in the trades. In registering for the GREAT program, the student will gain a head start on their post-secondary apprenticeship training program while working towards their grade 12 diploma.
